We are transgender people, professionals who work with transgender people, and spouses, families, and friends of transgender people. We are physicians, mental health professionals, attorneys, educators, executives, pilots, chefs, factory workers, fishermen, farmers, you name it. We are healthy and unashamed, and we have been putting on this fabulous one-week event called TransWeek (formally known as Fantasia Fair) every year since 1975.

52 Weeks a Year

Planning for TransWeek begins more than one year out. People from all walks of life work hard all year long to build a flawless and inexpensive TransWeek. There's a lot to do, and doing it is immensely satisfying!

During TransWeek, volunteers staff the office, collect tickets, see to the needs of presenters, update the schedule, set up video equipment, take deposits to the bank, manage the Fashion Show and Follies, introduce speakers, and do a dozen and more other things. TransWeek would not be possible without them.

Professionals Donate Their Time

TransWeek would not be the TransWeek without its professionals. Psychologist Maureen Osborne and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Carole MacKenzie work throughout the week with partners of trans people and trans people themselves. Carolyn Wolf-Gould is the medical director of the Gender Wellness Center in Oneonta, NY. She runs the writing workshop, a space for exploring the written word as a way to build community with one another during TransWeek. Provincetown's Dan McKeon takes professional photographs. Attendees with experience in a variety of industries provide their assistance as well

The Committee

The Planning Committee works throughout the year to plan and implement TransWeek. The committee maintains this website, publishes the Participants Guide and other TransWeek-related materials, manages registrations, solicits and selects speakers for the many workshops, sells ads, and publicizes TransWeek. They coordinate these many tasks by participating in bi-weekly telephone conferences.

In May, members of the committee travel to Provincetown to negotiate and sign contracts for banquets, lunches, and meeting space.

During TransWeek, the committee has hundreds of tasks, the most important of which are greeting and registering arriving attendees, staffing the TransWeek office, holding a welcoming reception on Monday, making sure meal counts are accurate, and depositing proceeds in the bank.

Jennifer

Jennifer’s first TransWeek was in 2019. She has been a planning committee member since 2021. Not being an out or transitioning trans woman, Jennifer has made the most of, and enjoyed immensely, attending trans gatherings for the past decade and being her true self. In addition to TransWeek, she’s attended First Event and more recently has been a regular presence at Keystone. 2026 will be Jennifer's second year as TransWeek Event Director.

Dee LaValle

Dee LaValle is a Massachusetts native and has been a proud TransWeek attendee since 2015. After serving as TransWeek’s Executive Director for seven consecutive events, she has now stepped into the role of Board Chair while continuing as an active member of the Planning Committee for her ninth year. In her role as the organization’s principal, she is excited to further expand the event’s diversity and strengthen inclusivity across the communities TransWeek serves.
Dee was honored to receive the Fantasia Fair Award in 2021. She works for an international multimedia corporation, where she has served on the board of directors for the company’s PRIDE employee resource group and on its DEI task force. Raising awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues across her organization has been one of her most meaningful professional contributions.

She and her spouse are proud parents of two young adult children and equally proud grandparents to two mischievous black kittens who, alongside their adult black cat, continue plotting Dee’s dramatic demise. Dee enjoys skiing with her children in the winter, and since her spouse despises snow, they enjoy traveling in months that are snow-free. Dee is a member of the TransWeek 2026 Planning Committee and serves as Chair of the ITEO Board of Directors.

Juliette

Juliette (she/her) has lived in the Seacoast Maine area since 2025. She first attended TransWeek in 2023 and is now in her second year on the planning committee.

Coming out as transgender later in life has been a clarifying and deeply affirming journey—one she continues to navigate with honesty, patience, and mutual support alongside her spouse and best friend of 25+ years.

Juliette is the proud parent of two grown children. She enjoys biking, running, skiing, reading, exploring the local alt music scene, and finding any excuse to laugh and burn off a little energy. She loves her morning coffee, yet is happy to partake in the occasional martini(dry).

Professionally, Juliette has built a long and meaningful career in the life sciences and biotech industry, and she currently works in the MetroWest Boston area supporting teams and missions that advance human health.

She loves supporting such a wonderful and important event that has meant so much for so many.

Nico

Nico (he/they) lives in a small town south of Boston with his partner, sibling-in-law, cats, and dog. He works in higher education, with a focus on academic technology and expertise from a background in art and design. Nico and his partner are avid science fiction fans and enjoy genre media, literature, gaming, and attending fan conventions. This is their third year attending TransWeek, and Nico’s second supporting the event by designing the street banner, Participant’s Guide, and other materials.

Candice

Candice is a native of Massachusetts and a military academy graduate where she served as a shipboard Engineering Officer. She had a varied career and holds several advanced degrees. She most recently retired as a corporate executive of a Fortune 500 company. She still finds time volunteering including working with the cadets, from her own Alma Mater, and the US Military Academy at West Point. She also performs corporate and foundational fundraising for Trans Week. She also loves riding bicycles and restoring antique motorcycles.

Dena Stigers

Dena grew up in Michigan, Illinois, and Oklahoma before moving with her partner and three children to Massachusetts in 1994, where they would have three more children. She first attended TransWeek in 2019 with her partner Liz. Having lived an apparently cis het life all her many adult years, Dena suddenly questioned her gender expression during a season of personal growth. Her partner Liz searched the web for a safe opportunity to explore gender expression, and found TransWeek. They attended the couple’s track together. They would return together in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Dena began her social transition in 2022, and now lives full time. She helps maintain the TransWeek website and is a member of the 2026 Planning Committee.

Jenna Daily

Jenna is excited to come to Provincetown for TransWeek 2026! She has been coming since 2012 with her wife Erin, whom she shares a son with. She previously served in the US Navy for 10 years as an aviation electronics technician. When she is not working she enjoys cycling, maintaining and improving her home theater (THE Oasis Cinema), and playing video games. Jenna is a member of the TransWeek 2026 Planning Committee.

Ila McCullough

Ila McCullough CHW, MHFA (She/They) has a background in HIV/STI Prevention and Harm Reduction work within the queer community in Ohio. Coming from a rural community, she has taken this perspective to help the queer community through their work and through moonlighting as The Lady Perez, her drag persona. She has worked for organizations such as Equitas Health and Stonewall Columbus, allowing her to continue advocating for her community.
