People flock from across Cape Cod to see the Fantasia Fair Follies at the Crown & Anchor on Friday. It’s our most popular annual event. Professionally produced with expert lighting and sound, the Fabulous Follies features some of our community’s most talented members. If you’re not performing, you’ll want to arrive early to grab a good seat. The Follies show is always a sellout!
If you’ve ever dreamed of getting on stage, or if you’re already a skilled or professional performer, the Follies offers you a chance to shine in front of more than 200 people. Break out your guitar, sing a song, recite a dramatic monologue, or just pretend you’re Katy Perry or Prince and lipsync! If you’re uncertain or nervous about performing, don’t be! The audience is always warm and welcoming. The Follies’ director and her wonderful backstage coaches will help calm your nerves. Don’t miss the chance to show the world your inner diva! Just step up on stage and be a star! Please remember to sign up early; there’s only enough time for about 18 or so performers. Signup is Monday afternoon at the Boatslip; check the schedule to be sure.
The Follies is held in the Crown & Anchor’s Paramount Theater, 247 Commercial St., across the street from Town Hall in the heart of Provincetown. Join us after, at Tin Pan Alley 269 Commercial Street, for After Hours! Other bars and restaurants, including the Crown & Anchor’s Wave Video Bar, are available before, during, and after the Follies for cocktails to properly celebrate the evening.
Besides being a fun evening, the Follies is also a charitable fundraising event. Tips given to the performers are donated to charity. In past years, Fan Fair has contributed to the town’s library, the Provincetown Police Department, an AIDS support group, a local hospice facility, Soup Kitchen in Provincetown, the Provincetown LGBT Welcome Center. the UU church, and senior services group. We purchased a lifesaving defibrillator for the Fire Department. Since the Follies began, the show has helped us raise more than $58,000 for deserving organizations that serve the people of Provincetown and Cape Cod. This year with many charities needing our support we will be making donations to several local charitable organizations that need the help!
