Welcome First Time Attendees

Welcome! TransWeek is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. If your first time is like most, you’ll find it amazing! There are tracks for all attendees at a various points in their journey, and many interesting speakers talking on these and other trans-related topics.

This just barely scratches the surface of what TransWeek has to offer you.

TransWeek is spread out over Provincetown for the full week. In addition to the TransWeek events, you can also go to restaurants and stores, sightsee around town and Cape Cod, or even just walk around the streets. Think of it as combining a chance to explore your true self while enjoying a wonderful fall New England experience in a very accepting environment.

And the people! You’ll find that the other attendees are very welcoming to you. They’ve been in your shoes, heels or otherwise. You’ll get to hear a lot of different life stories from them, and they will be more than interested in hearing however much of yours you are comfortable sharing. Many of us have made some lifelong friends at previous Fairs.

Then there are the people of Provincetown itself. P’townies are proud of their history as an artist community, a fishing village, and an accepting environment. The Pilgrim tower is a monument to the pilgrims, who landed here first when they sailed to America, and it’s a symbol of welcome to all.

One of the best ways for a first timer to get to know people is to attend the daily programs designed just for you. The morning coffee hour/meet and greets are led by attendees who have been to the Fair before and can give you a lot of information and tips on making the most of your TransWeek.

Are you in a relationship, and is your significant other having issues with your journey to self? TransWeek is well known for its great relationship track, which has helped hundreds of couples over the years. Programming specifically designed for the spouse/significant other includes strong support and therapist-led sessions just for them to help them find their own space and understand that they are not alone.

Do you sing, act, tell jokes, dance, etc.? Consider participating in the Follies. They take place on Friday night and are open to all. You can perform as a solo act, with a friend, or in a group. There’s also the open mic night on Thursday, where you can perform in a more intimate setting.

Are you a fashionista, or a fashionista wannabe? Consider being in the fashion show on Wednesday. Walk the TransWeek runway and have a ball.

All in all, TransWeek is a wonderful experience for people across the transgender spectrum. Join us! We look forward to welcoming you to Provincetown and TransWeek this October. We can’t wait to meet you!
